Tootuff: The Gagmachine is one of those GBA games that makes you go, "Wait, what?" in the best way possible. You play as this little blue gremlin of a character named Tootuff, bouncing through a world that feels like someone animated their weirdest dreams. The first time I played, I got stuck trying to figure out how to use a giant banana as a trampoline—yeah, it’s that kind of game.
It’s part puzzle, part platformer, but mostly just an excuse to throw bizarre gags at you. The art style holds up surprisingly well on the tiny screen, all squiggly lines and bright colors like a Saturday morning cartoon gone rogue. Some of the solutions to puzzles are so dumb they’re brilliant (I won’t spoil the one involving a sentient toilet).
If you miss the days when games didn’t over-explain everything and just let you stumble into chaos, this is a weird little time capsule worth digging up. Just don’t expect it to make sense—and that’s the point.
