Top Pro Golf (Japan) is one of those Genesis golf games that just feels right. No menus full of stats to tweak, no endless tutorials—you pick a course, line up your shot, and swing. The Japanese version smoothed out some of the weird physics from other releases, so your shots actually go where you expect them to (most of the time).
I love how it nails the simple stuff: the way the ball rolls on the green, how wind actually affects your shot instead of just being a number on the screen. It’s got that old-school arcade vibe where you can absolutely smash a drive 300 yards, but then spend five minutes sweating over a tricky downhill putt. If you’ve played PGA Tour and wished it was a little less serious, this is the one to try.
Still holds up surprisingly well for a 16-bit golf game—especially with a friend cursing at your lucky chip-ins.
