Play Truxton Online
You're weaving through swarms of alien ships, barely scraping by until you grab a power-up and suddenly your shots light up the whole screen—just don't blink when those asteroids come crashing in.

Truxton came out for the Sega Genesis in 1989, developed by Toaplan. It was one of those early shooters that felt like a serious step up from what you might have played on older systems, with a lot more happening on screen at once.
You pilot a ship through five stages, shooting down waves of enemies and dodging intricate bullet patterns. The main goal is survival, clearing each area to face a large boss at the end. You collect colored power-ups to upgrade your main shot, bombs, and a protective shield that circles your ship. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty is steep, especially once the screen fills with enemy fire. It feels tense and demanding, but landing a full-power shot and clearing a path is incredibly satisfying.
