Download U.S.S. John Young_Disk1 ROM – Amiga Game
1990 Amiga action sim. Command the U.S.S. John Young in 2D naval combat. Missions include submarine hunting, convoy protection, and patrols in Persian Gulf. Real-time strategy and combat.
You're thrown straight into the Persian Gulf in '95, commanding the USS John Young—a destroyer with way too many problems on its hands. Iranian and Iraqi forces are stirring up chaos, and suddenly you're juggling sub hunts, escort missions, and full-blown naval skirmishes. The 2D graphics are simple, but there's something weirdly tense about watching radar blips creep closer while you scramble to position your ship.
First mission? Probably hunting down some rogue submarine before it torpedoes a civilian convoy. The controls take a minute to get used to—this isn’t some arcade shooter—but once you figure out how to coordinate sonar, weapons, and evasive maneuvers, it clicks. Just don’t expect to survive your first patrol if you charge in guns blazing. The game doesn’t hold your hand.
It’s one of those old-school Amiga sims where the stakes feel real because every mistake costs you. You’ll end up obsessing over fuel levels, ammo counts, and whether that speck on the horizon is a fishing boat or an enemy warship. Not for the impatient, but weirdly satisfying when you pull off a mission without getting blown to bits.
