I picked up VeggieTales: LarryBoy and the Bad Apple on Game Boy Advance back in 2006. It was developed by Climax Group and published by Crave Entertainment, one of those many licensed platformers that filled out the GBA library. It felt very much of its time, a straightforward side-scroller aimed at a younger audience but with a surprising amount of charm packed into its cart.
You control LarryBoy, the cucumber superhero, through a series of themed levels. The main goal is to rescue citizens who have been turned into jerky by the influence of the Bad Apple. Gameplay involves running, jumping across platforms, and using your suction cup ears to swing from vines. You collect tickets scattered throughout the stages, which are used to unlock bonus content. The pacing is generally brisk, though some enemy patterns and platforming sequences require careful timing. It feels like a competent, lighthearted adventure that captures the show's humor well.
