Play Verytex Online
You pilot a lone ship through eerie organic corridors, swapping between punchy lasers and boomerang shots as the walls pulse like they're alive. The upgrades turn you into a beast, but Shirakusa keeps throwing weirder horrors your way.
Verytex came out for the Sega Genesis in 1991, developed by Hot B. It was one of those lesser known shooters that felt a bit different from the usual space marine or fighter jet fare, opting for a more biological, almost claustrophobic style of play.
You control a small, agile ship navigating tight, maze-like corridors that look and feel like the inside of some massive, living creature. Your main goal is simply to survive, clearing each screen of enemies before you can progress. You switch between two main weapons, a forward firing laser and a boomerang style shot that arcs out and returns, which is crucial for hitting enemies tucked into corners or behind obstacles. The game is methodical; you move screen by screen, and the pacing is tense rather than frantic, with a difficulty that demands careful positioning and quick weapon swaps. It feels like being trapped inside a hostile organism, constantly probing its defenses.
