Play Verytex Online
You pilot a lone ship through eerie organic corridors, swapping between punchy lasers and boomerang shots as the walls pulse like they're alive. The upgrades turn you into a beast, but Shirakusa keeps throwing weirder horrors your way.

Game Overview
Verytex is one of those Sega Genesis shooters that feels like it got lost in the shuffle—which is a shame, because it’s got this weird, moody vibe I really dig. You’re part of some elite space squad investigating a missing ship on a planet called Shirakusa, and of course, nothing goes as planned. The whole thing’s drenched in this eerie organic aesthetic, like the levels are alive in a way most shooters don’t bother with.
You start off with a basic spread shot, but the real fun comes from swapping between three weapon types mid-game. The Beam Laser punches straight ahead like a freight train, while the Boomerang Laser fans out in this satisfying arc—great for when enemies swarm from all sides. And yeah, you can upgrade everything, including homing missiles that eventually feel like having your own personal cleanup crew. There’s even shields and bombs if things get too hairy (they will).
Six stages might not sound like much, but the difficulty ramps up fast, especially when the screen starts filling with these pulsating alien… things. It’s the kind of game where you’ll replay the first few levels just to memorize the attack patterns, because later on, hesitation means instant vaporization. If you’re into retro shooters with a creepy twist, this one’s worth dusting off.
