Game Overview

VideoKid_Disk1 came out in 1992 for the Amiga, developed by Gremlin Graphics Software Limited. It was one of those side-scrolling action games that fit right into the platform's library at the time, offering a straightforward, movie-themed adventure without much pretense. You play as a kid on a skateboard, moving through five distinct worlds based on film genres: Medieval, Wild West, Sci-Fi, Gangster, and Horror. Each level throws its own set of enemies at you, from knights and aliens to gangsters and ghosts, keeping the action varied as you progress.

You control the skateboarding kid, navigating left and right while throwing video tapes at enemies to defeat them. The main objective is to clear each themed level by fighting through waves of foes and avoiding obstacles. Key mechanics include picking up weapon upgrades like missiles, lasers, smart bombs, and shields, which help you handle tougher enemies and bosses. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly, especially in later stages.
