Game Overview

Vindex came out in 1989 for the Amiga, developed by Turtle Byte Software. It was one of those early pseudo-3D shooters that tried to push the hardware a bit, using sprite scaling and grid-based movement to create a sense of depth. At the time, it felt like a step into something more immersive, even if the technology was still finding its feet.

You control a small ship, moving on a fixed grid while enemies approach from the distance. Your goal is to survive wave after wave of foes, dodging their fire while shooting back. The screen scrolls smoothly as you navigate, and enemies grow larger as they get closer, which adds a real sense of perspective. The pacing is relentless; you have to keep moving and aiming constantly to avoid being overwhelmed. Playing Vindex feels like a tense, non-stop battle where every second counts.
