Game Overview
Winter Sports on the Game Boy Advance is one of those games that somehow makes blocky pixels feel like an Olympic event. You pick from a handful of winter sports—downhill skiing, snowboarding, figure skating—and suddenly you're leaning into turns like your tiny GBA controls actually have weight to them. The skating events are weirdly satisfying once you get the timing down, even if your "graceful routine" looks more like a stick figure having a seizure.
It’s not exactly realistic (you can totally cheese some events by just button-mashing), but there’s something about the simplicity that hooks you. The races feel fast for a GBA game, and the trick system is just deep enough to make you want to retry that last jump. Also, no actual frostbite—just pixelated snow and the occasional hilarious wipeout animation.
If you’ve got a soft spot for early 2000s handheld sports games, this one’s a solid time-killer.
