Winzer is one of those weirdly addictive Amiga business sims where you play as a German vintner trying to make it big. You start by picking a little vineyard somewhere in the south—I always went for the Mosel region because the terrain looked nice—and then it's all about managing every step of the winemaking process.

Planting vines is just the beginning. You've got to time the harvest just right (too early and the wine tastes like sour grapes, too late and it turns to vinegar), hire workers who won't slack off, and even bribe officials to approve your shady "premium" blends. Yeah, you can totally cheat by watering down your wine—just don't get caught.

The real challenge is balancing quality with profit. Spend too much on fancy equipment and you'll go broke before your first bottle sells. But cut corners and your wine ends up ranked dead last in competitions. I lost three harvests in a row before realizing fertilizing in spring makes all the difference.

Winning takes patience—you need 1000 points from awards, exports, or finally nailing that perfect sparkling wine. It's oddly satisfying when your label starts showing up in Parisian shops.
