World Class Leaderboard Golf came out for the Sega Genesis in 1987, developed by Tiertex Design Studios. It was one of the earlier golf games on the platform, arriving before the genre really took off with more advanced titles. It had a straightforward approach, focusing on the basics of the sport without a lot of extra features.
You control a golfer through a full 18 holes, with the main goal of finishing under par. The swing mechanic is central; you hold a button to build power, release to set the angle, and then hope your timing was right. Wind plays a constant role, pushing shots off course if you don't adjust for it. The greens look simple but have subtle breaks that make putting a real challenge. It feels satisfying to land a good shot, but one mistake can easily ruin a hole.
