Zelda 2 - The Adventure of Link is a weird one—it ditches the top-down view of the first game for side-scrolling combat and RPG elements. You still explore Hyrule, but now you’re grinding for XP, leveling up stats, and fighting enemies in these tight, almost platformer-like battles.
The first thing you notice is how different it feels. Instead of swinging your sword freely, you’re poking and blocking in a way that makes every fight deliberate. The overworld is still there, but towns feel more alive with NPCs giving cryptic hints. And those dungeons? They’re mazes with spells you have to learn just to progress.
It’s punishing, too. One wrong jump or mistimed block, and you’re back to the last palace checkpoint. But there’s something satisfying about finally beating a tough enemy or finding a hidden path. Zelda 2 - The Adventure of Link isn’t what you’d expect, but it sticks with you.
