Game Overview

This one's a deep dive into submarine warfare—literally. You take command of either an American or Soviet sub across ten missions, and it’s way more detailed than you’d expect for its time. Most of the screen is just control panels, but they nailed the claustrophobic feel of being underwater. You can micromanage everything from sonar to torpedoes, or just let your crew handle the boring bits while you focus on not getting blown up.

Occasionally, you’ll catch a glimpse of the outside world—blurry digitized ships, your crew looking stressed—but mostly, it’s all dials, switches, and tense silence. The realism’s impressive, though good luck figuring out half the systems at first. Once it clicks, though, there’s something weirdly satisfying about lining up a perfect torpedo shot while your crew yells about incoming depth charges.

Definitely not for the arcade crowd, but if you ever wanted to sweat over sonar pings in 16-bit, this is your game.
