688 Attack Sub is one of those old-school Sega Genesis games that actually makes you feel like you're running a submarine. You get to pick either an American or Soviet sub and dive into ten missions where you're juggling sonar pings, torpedo launches, and avoiding depth charges—or just let your AI crew handle the boring stuff while you focus on sneaking past destroyers.
The controls look intimidating at first—lots of dials and screens—but after a few minutes, you start figuring out which stations actually matter. The graphics are mostly close-ups of your sub's dashboard, but every now and then, you get these grainy digitized shots of enemy ships or your crew looking stressed.
