Advance Wars 2 - Black Hole Rising (Surplus) (EU) is one of those games that looks simple at first glance, but the deeper you go, the more it demands from you. The first few missions ease you in with small maps and basic units, but before long, you're juggling supply lines, terrain advantages, and CO powers that can flip a battle in seconds.
I remember one mission where I thought I had the upper hand, pushing forward with tanks and artillery, only to realize too late that my opponent had been quietly building bombers off-screen. Watching them swoop in and wipe out my frontline in one turn was brutal, but it taught me to always scout ahead.
The Black Hole faction adds some wild new units to the mix, and their COs have abilities that force you to rethink your usual strategies. It's still very much Advance Wars, just with more layers to peel back. The campaign drags a little in the middle, but the later missions make up for it with some clever twists.
