Advanced Daisenryaku: Deutsch Dengeki Sakusen is one of those deep, old-school strategy games for the Sega Genesis where you’re moving little tanks and infantry units across a hex grid, trying not to get your entire army wiped out by a surprise bomber run. The whole thing’s in Japanese, but if you’ve played any Daisenryaku games before, you’ll recognize the unit icons and menus after a few minutes of poking around.
It’s slower than modern strategy games—you’ll spend a lot of time calculating movement ranges and debating whether to push forward or dig in—but there’s something satisfying about watching your carefully planned encirclement actually work. Just don’t expect flashy animations or hand-holding. This is pure, unfiltered 90s hex warfare.
