Advanced Daisenryaku – Deutsch Dengeki Sakusen is one of those Sega Genesis games that looks unassuming at first glance—until you realize it’s basically a full-blown war simulator crammed onto a cartridge. You’re moving tanks through forests, bombing bridges with planes, and desperately trying not to run out of supplies while your opponent slowly encircles your last artillery unit. It’s brutal in the best way.

The German-theme thing is a little random (expect some oddly translated unit names), but the core gameplay is rock-solid. Terrain actually matters—tanks struggle in swamps, infantry can ambush from cities—and every decision feels weighty. I lost my first three matches before realizing you can’t just rush in like it’s Risk. This is slow, methodical, and weirdly satisfying when your flanking maneuver finally pays off.

If you’ve got the patience for hex grids and supply line math, this is one of the deepest strategy games on the Genesis. Just maybe keep a notepad handy.
