Airforce Delta Storm GBA is one of those flight sims that feels surprisingly good on a handheld. You start off with a basic jet, weaving through canyons and taking down enemy fighters in tight dogfights. The controls take some getting used to, but once it clicks, pulling off sharp turns and lining up shots feels satisfying.
The missions throw different objectives at you, from escort duty to all-out dogfights. Sometimes the screen gets crowded with missiles and enemy planes, making it hard to track everything. I remember one mission where I barely scraped by with my jet smoking, alarms blaring, and just enough ammo left to take out the last target.
It's not the deepest flight sim, but for a GBA game, Airforce Delta Storm captures that arcadey aerial combat feel pretty well. The pixelated explosions and speed effects hold up better than you'd expect.
