Game Overview

Akumajou Special: Boku Dracula-kun came out on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990, developed and published by Konami. It was a strange, late-era NES title that took the Castlevania name and twisted it into something completely unexpected, trading gothic dread for a playful, almost cartoonish adventure.

You control Kid Dracula, the son of the famous vampire, as he sets out to reclaim his castle from an upstart demon. You move through levels screen by screen, bouncing on enemies with your small wings and firing magic projectiles at anything that moves. The game is filled with oddball mechanics, like transforming into a bat for brief flight or navigating sudden, silly minigames. The pacing is brisk, and while it's not overly difficult, some platforming sections demand precise jumps. Playing it feels like exploring a toy box full of Konami's weirdest ideas.
