Alien Breed Special Edition '92 is basically more of what made the original great, but with some cool twists. You're still creeping through maze-like corridors blasting aliens, but now there are these eerie "dark mission" levels where all you see are glowing eyes in the shadows—super tense when you're low on ammo.
The new levels mix things up nicely—one has no enemies at all, just this ominous countdown while you scramble to find the exit. And thank goodness for the level codes; no more replaying the first five levels every time you get wrecked by some surprise alien swarm near the end.
If you liked the first Alien Breed, this feels like a proper expansion rather than just a rehash. The Amiga's chunky pixel art and that synth soundtrack still hold up surprisingly well.
