Alien Soldier is basically one long, ridiculous boss rush where Treasure (the same mad geniuses behind Gunstar Heroes) decided to see how far they could push the Genesis. The second you boot it up, the title screen brags about "pushing the hardware to its limits" — and honestly? They weren't lying.
You play as this weird bird-man hybrid with a gun arm, flipping between different weapon modes mid-fight while screen-filling bosses try to murder you in increasingly flashy ways. The sprite work is insane for a Genesis game, explosions everywhere, and the soundtrack slaps. First time I played, I got wrecked by the third boss because I kept forgetting you can dash through bullets. Classic Treasure chaos.
It's short if you're good, punishing if you're not, and absolutely worth the frustration.
