Game Overview
All-Star Tennis 99 is one of those N64 sports games that somehow nails the arcade-y feel of tennis without getting too complicated. You’ve got real pros like Kuerten and Novotná, plus a few made-up characters who are weirdly fun to play as—I always went for the guy with the ridiculous sunglasses.
The courts actually feel different—clay slows things down, grass is fast, and hardcourt sits somewhere in between. You’ve got all the basic shots (lobs, smashes, etc.), but the real fun is in doubles with three friends. Things get chaotic fast when four people are yelling at the screen.
It’s not a sim, but it’s way more satisfying than it has any right to be.
