Game Overview

Amida was a Game Boy puzzle game released in 1990 by publisher Hect. It arrived during the handheld's early years, a time when developers were still exploring what kinds of experiences worked best on the small, monochrome screen. This title fit right in, offering a straightforward, mechanics-driven challenge without much pretense.

You control a small character who must climb a series of vertical, rickety bridges. Your main tool is a set of switches that flip sections of the bridge from solid to broken, or vice versa, to create a safe path upward. The objective is simply to reach the top of each stage without falling. The core challenge comes from timing your switches correctly as your climber moves automatically; one mistimed press sends them plummeting. Later levels introduce moving obstacles and require rapid, precise input, shifting the pace from thoughtful to frantic. It feels like conducting a miniature, high-stakes operation where every decision is immediate and final.
