Arkanoid: Revenge of DOH is a 1987 arcade game by Taito, playable today through MAME emulation. It arrived as a sequel to the original Arkanoid, building on the breakout formula that was already familiar in arcades during the late 80s. The game doesn't try to reinvent the wheel, but it does expand the scope with new level designs and a few fresh twists.

You control a small paddle at the bottom of the screen, moving it left and right to bounce a ball upward and break formations of colored blocks. The main goal is to clear each screen of blocks while avoiding letting the ball fall past your paddle. Signature mechanics include catching power-up capsules that grant abilities like expanding your paddle, firing lasers, or creating multiple balls; some stages also feature indestructible blocks, moving obstacles, and enemies that shoot back at you. The pacing is methodical but demanding, with later levels requiring precise angles and quick reactions to ricochet the ball through narrow gaps. It feels satisfying to watch a screen shatter piece by piece, especially when you chain together power-ups and keep a risky volley alive.
