Army Men Advance GBA is a simple but fun little top-down shooter where you control a squad of plastic soldiers. The first mission drops you into a backyard battlefield, and the scale makes everything feel toy-like in a good way—grass looks like towering jungle, puddles become lakes.
Movement is a bit stiff, but the weapons have a satisfying pop to them, especially the bazooka. I remember one mission where I had to flank around a sandbox while enemy units fired from behind a row of soda cans. It captures that childhood imagination of plastic army men coming to life.
The missions get repetitive after a while, and the AI isn’t the smartest, but for a quick GBA shooter, it does the job. Army Men Advance GBA won’t blow your mind, but it’s a decent way to kill some time.
