Game Overview

Army Men Advance 2: Turf Wars came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2002, developed by Digital Eclipse and published by The 3DO Company. It was part of that wave of portable shooters that tried to squeeze big action onto a small screen, back when the GBA was the handheld to beat. You get a lot of missions and a surprising amount of environmental variety for a game about little green soldiers.

You control a single plastic soldier from an isometric perspective, moving through screen-by-screen environments like backyards and kitchen floors. Your main goal is to complete mission objectives, which usually involve wiping out all enemy tan troops or securing a specific point on the map. You use a selection of weapons, like the standard rifle, a flamethrower, or grenades, to melt or shatter your opponents. The pacing is pretty brisk; you're always advancing, taking cover behind everyday objects like soda cans or books, and watching for enemies that pop up unexpectedly. It feels straightforward and satisfying, like a focused, bite-sized war game you can play in short bursts.
