Game Overview

I picked up Avatar: The Last Airbender: The Burning Earth for the Game Boy Advance back in 2007, published by THQ. It was one of those licensed games that came out alongside the show's second season, and it fit right in with the handheld action titles of that era. The pixel art did a decent job capturing the look of the characters, even on the small screen.

You control Aang, Katara, Sokka, and Toph, switching between them on the fly to use their unique bending and combat skills. The goal is to fight through Fire Nation soldiers and spirits across side-scrolling levels, solving simple environmental puzzles by bending elements to clear paths or hit switches. The missions are short and direct, often recreating moments from the series, though the combat can feel repetitive after a while. It's a straightforward, sometimes clunky experience that still manages to feel like a quick trip back into the world of the show.
