Baal Amiga came out in 1988 for the Amiga, developed by Psygnosis Limited. It was part of that wave of early Amiga action games that tried to push what the hardware could do visually, with detailed backdrops and smooth animation. You don't hear about it as much as some other titles from that year, but it had a presence.
You control a Time Warrior leader, moving screen by screen through hostile environments. Your goal is to recover parts of a war machine to eventually defeat the evil Baal. The game combines sword combat with occasional projectile attacks, and you explore a large map filled with enemies and obstacles. It moves at a deliberate pace, and the difficulty is considerable; enemies respawn, and health is scarce. Playing it feels like a careful, tense trek through a dangerous and moody world.
