Play Back Street Soccer Online
Control a team of street players, dodge obstacles, score goals, and unleash wild moves in this chaotic arcade soccer game from 1996.
Back Street Soccer came out in 1996 as an arcade game from SunA, a developer known for a few oddball sports titles in that era. It was the kind of thing you’d find wedged between more serious racers and fighters, a colorful distraction with a lot of personality and a low barrier to entry. It didn’t try to be a simulation; it was just there to be fun.
You control a team of streetwise players on a small, single-screen field, usually with some kind of urban obstacle in the way, like a dumpster or a parked car. The main objective is to score more goals than the other team, but the real appeal is in the over-the-top moves. You can perform bicycle kicks that send the ball in wild, unpredictable arcs, and you can shoulder-check opponents to temporarily stun them. The pacing is fast and a little frantic, with the ball pinballing around and goals happening quickly. It feels like a messy, energetic playground scrap with a ball.
