Remember those old-school Backyard Sports games? This one’s the basketball version for the GBA, and it’s exactly as chaotic and fun as you’d expect. You start by picking your team—either the regular Backyard Kids or mini versions of NBA stars (which, honestly, never stops being funny). The courts are ridiculous too, like someone’s actual driveway with way too many obstacles.
Season mode’s where it’s at if you want something meatier—you’ll play through a full BBA schedule, trying not to get wrecked by Pablo Sanchez and his weirdly overpowered skills. There’s also a few goofy minigames, like trying to balance a ball on your head or blocking shots until your thumbs hurt. And yeah, you can link up with a friend if you’ve got the cable, but good luck finding someone who still has a GBA lying around.
It’s janky in that early-2000s handheld sports game way, but that’s kind of the charm.
