Base Wars is this weird NES game where baseball meets robot warfare. You've got cyborg players swinging bats and blasting each other with lasers while trying to steal bases. The first time I played, my shortstop got wrecked by a homerun that turned into a missile mid-flight.

The controls are clunky in that classic NES way—timing jumps to avoid attacks feels stiff, and the power-ups are either overpowered or useless. But there's something oddly satisfying about watching your pitcher throw a curveball that curves into a grenade.

It's janky, unbalanced, and the AI cheats sometimes, but Base Wars has this bizarre charm that makes you keep playing just to see what ridiculous thing happens next.
