Game Overview

Baseball Advance is one of those GBA sports games that just gets it. The second you boot it up, you're thrown right into the action—no fuss, no bloated menus, just pick your teams and start swinging. The controls are stupidly simple (A to swing, B to bunt, shoulder buttons for pitching types), but there's this sneaky depth to the timing that keeps you adjusting your approach.

What surprised me was how good the fielding feels—no clunky delays, just crisp throws to bases with a satisfying thwip sound effect. And the pixel art? Clean as hell. The players have these little idle animations between pitches, and the ball actually leaves a faint trail when you smash a line drive.

I mostly play Exhibition mode when I’ve got 15 minutes to kill, but the Season mode’s stat tracking is weirdly addictive if you’re into that. Just don’t expect MLB-level realism—this is arcade baseball at its purest. The AI will occasionally pull off a ridiculous diving catch that makes you yell at your GBA, but in a good way.
