Game Overview

Battle City (VS) is a classic NES tank shooter where you defend your base while taking out waves of enemy tanks. The first few levels feel simple—just you, a basic tank, and some destructible brick walls—but things escalate fast when tougher armored tanks roll in.

What I like is how the level design forces you to think. You can blast through red bricks to create cover, but silver ones are indestructible, so you end up weaving through narrow paths while dodging enemy fire. The ice patches are brutal—your tank slides uncontrollably if you’re not careful.

The construction mode is a nice touch. After grinding through the 35 levels, building your own maze-like stages feels rewarding, especially when you throw in tricky enemy spawn points. Battle City (VS) holds up surprisingly well for an NES game, even if the difficulty spikes can be punishing.
