Play Battletech Online
Pick your mech, balance heat and firepower, then outmaneuver enemies on a tactical grid—one wrong move and your back armor’s toast. Slow but brutal, like chess with giant robots.

Battletech on the Sega Genesis, developed by Extreme Entertainment Group and published by Sega, arrived in 1995. It was a time when strategy games were finding a home on consoles, offering a different kind of challenge from the more common action platformers. This adaptation brought the complex, tabletop-inspired warfare of the BattleTech universe to the 16-bit system.
You control a lance of four BattleMechs, managing their movement, weapons, and heat levels on a hex-based battlefield. The main objective is to complete a series of mercenary contracts, destroying enemy units while trying to keep your own expensive machines intact. Signature mechanics include managing your heat gauge, as firing too many weapons will cause your Mech to shut down, and targeting specific enemy components to disable weapons or blow off legs. The pacing is deliberate and the difficulty is unforgiving; a single misjudged flanking maneuver can leave a Mech cored from behind. It feels like a tense, high-stakes game of resource management where every volley of laser fire has consequences.
