Beethoven's 2nd came out for the Game Boy in 1993, published by Hi Tech Expressions. It was part of that wave of licensed games from the early 90s, the kind you'd rent for a weekend because you liked the movie. You control the big St. Bernard, Beethoven, and your main job is to find and rescue all four of his lost puppies in each stage. You move screen by screen through suburban backyards and parks, digging in flowerbeds and pushing objects to uncover hidden bones and puppy clues. The main challenge comes from avoiding hazards like grumpy neighbors and their garden hoses, or outsmarting the dogcatcher who shows up in later levels. The pacing is slow, almost methodical; it's not about quick reflexes but careful exploration. It feels like a gentle, slightly clunky puzzle adventure where the biggest reward is a happy bark from a found pup.
