Beyond Dark Castle came out for the Amiga in 1988, a sequel to the earlier Dark Castle. It was developed by Silicon Beach Software and published by Activision. You control a prince navigating a multi-level fortress, screen by screen, to rescue the king. You jump across gaps, avoid traps like fireballs and crushing blocks, and fight guards and creatures using a limited supply of rocks or a sword. The game requires careful timing and memorization; one wrong move often means starting the room over. Progress feels deliberate, and finishing a difficult section brings a real sense of relief.
