Game Overview
This is one of those early NASCAR games that somehow still feels satisfying to play, even with its chunky polygonal graphics. You’re stuck in the driver’s seat—literally, since it’s all first-person—and the sense of speed is weirdly convincing once you get going. Drafting behind other cars actually works, which is cool, and tweaking your ride’s aerodynamics makes a noticeable difference on the straights.
Talladega’s a beast, by the way. The tracks are simple but recognizable, and the VCR-style replay controls are oddly charming. You’ll spend most of your time either swearing at traffic in a full race or fine-tuning your Pontiac in practice mode. It’s rough around the edges, but there’s something about it that sticks with you.
