Play Body Count Online
In Body Count, you control a soldier, blast through waves of insectoid enemies, and try to survive in chaotic, industrial environments on the Sega Genesis.
Body Count came out for the Sega Genesis in 1994, developed by Probe Entertainment. It was part of that wave of early first-person shooters trying to find a home on consoles, a time when everyone was experimenting with how to translate that PC feeling to a controller. It didn't have the name recognition of some other titles, but it had its own particular flavor of intensity.
You control a soldier from a first-person perspective, moving through a series of industrial and alien environments. Your main objective is simply to survive each wave of insectoid enemies, clearing screen after screen of them. The signature mechanics are straightforward: you have a standard rapid-fire weapon and occasional, desperately needed screen-clearing bombs. The pacing is relentless, with enemies spawning constantly from all directions, and the difficulty ramps up quickly into pure chaos. It feels like holding down the fire button and praying you don't get surrounded.
