I picked up Bookworm for the Game Boy Advance back in 2003, a PopCap game that fit right in with the era's love for quick, portable puzzle games. It wasn't trying to be a big adventure; it was just a clever word game you could play in short bursts, which made it perfect for the handheld.
You control a cursor to link adjacent letters on a grid, forming words to clear tiles before the burning ones reach the bottom. The main goal is to keep the board manageable and score points by creating longer words, which Lex the bookworm enthusiastically approves of with a cheerful animation. The pressure steadily builds as you play, forcing you to scan the board quickly and plan several moves ahead to avoid getting trapped. It feels satisfying to find a complex word under that kind of time pressure.
