Play Bouken Yuuki Plaston GP (J)(Rising Sun) Online

You mash a button to transform your car into a tank mid-race, then into a plane to skip over lakes while the track keeps throwing ridiculous twists at you. It’s chaotic, janky, and somehow makes perfect sense once you’re in the zone.

Game Overview

Bouken Yuuki Plaston GP is one of those GBA games that makes you wonder how it even got made—in the best way possible. You start off racing what looks like a normal cartoony car, and then suddenly you're slamming a button to turn it into a tank to plow through barriers, or a plane to skip over water. The controls take a second to click, but once they do, you're weaving through these wild tracks that feel like they were designed by someone who refused to pick just one theme.

The graphics have that early 2000s charm—bright colors, exaggerated animations—and the music is weirdly catchy. I kept humming the main track for days. It’s not perfect (some of the later courses get brutally hard), but there’s nothing else quite like morphing your ride mid-drift to dodge an opponent’s attack. If you ever rented random games as a kid just to see how bizarre they’d get, this is that energy in cartridge form.
