Game Overview

Boxxle 2 came out for the Game Boy in 1991, developed by Thinking Rabbit. It was part of that wave of puzzle games that thrived on the handheld, offering a deep challenge in a small package without any flashy graphics or story. You just got a grid and some boxes, and that was more than enough to keep you occupied on a long bus ride or in a dimly lit room after dark.

You control a warehouse worker whose only job is to push crates onto specific marked spots. Each screen is a self-contained puzzle, and the main objective is to clear all the targets without boxing yourself into a corner. The signature mechanics are simple but punishing: you can only push crates, not pull them, and a single misplaced block can ruin the entire solution, forcing a reset. The pacing is methodical, almost slow, demanding you think several moves ahead. It feels like carefully untangling a knot, where every slight nudge matters and a moment of carelessness means starting all over again.
