I picked up Brainbender on the Game Boy back in 1991, published by Image Works. It was one of those puzzle games that felt right at home on the handheld, something you could chip away at during a bus ride or between classes. The screen-by-screen structure made it easy to play in short bursts, which was perfect for the platform at the time.

You control a cursor, moving it across a grid to connect nodes and complete circuits before a timer expires. The main objective is to solve each puzzle by forming a continuous path, often under increasing pressure as the stages introduce more complex layouts and obstacles. It starts calmly, almost deceptively simple, but the difficulty ramps up quickly, demanding faster thinking and careful planning. Solving a tricky stage just before time runs out gives a real sense of relief.
