Play Bubba ‘n’ Stix Online
Guide Bubba through colorful worlds, using Stix to grapple, whack enemies, and solve puzzles to rescue his family in this unique platformer from 1994.
Bubba 'n' Stix came out on the Sega Genesis in 1994, developed by Core Design. It was one of those platformers that felt a little different from the usual run and gun fare of the era, more focused on figuring things out than just blasting through. You don't see many games where your main weapon is also your best friend and a multi-tool.
You control Bubba, a little alien guy, but the real star is Stix, the sentient stick he carries. You use Stix for everything: swing him to grapple across gaps, whack enemies, or morph him into objects like a bridge or a ladder to solve environmental puzzles. The goal is to rescue your kidnapped family by traversing a series of vibrant, obstacle-filled worlds. The pace is thoughtful, sometimes slow, as you stop to assess each screen and decide what form Stix needs to take next. It feels like a constant, satisfying puzzle where your only tool is also your companion.
