Bubble and Squeak looks like a standard Amiga platformer at first—you’re just a kid hopping around, shooting weird little enemies that drop coins. But then you meet Squeak, this blue alien who tags along, and suddenly it’s a two-character puzzle. He can’t jump as high as you, so you’re constantly figuring out when to leave him behind or use him as a springboard for ridiculous high jumps.
The Bubble Mode is where things get wild—toss a coin into a gum machine, hop on Squeak’s back, and suddenly you’re bouncing around like a hyperactive Mario with bubble guns. And just when you think you’ve got the rhythm, it throws these underwater shooter sections at you between levels. It’s chaotic in the best way.
Honestly, the first time I played, I didn’t expect the alien buddy system to be this much of a game-changer. You’ll either love the teamwork or get frustrated trying to keep Squeak from wandering into trouble.
