1989 Amiga action sports game featuring six Wild West mini-games: knife throwing, sharpshooting, calf roping, bronco riding, and stagecoach brawling.
Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show on the Amiga is a weirdly charming mix of mini-games that don’t take themselves too seriously. You get six Wild West-themed challenges, and honestly, some of them feel like they were dreamed up after a few too many whiskeys at the saloon.
The first one has you throwing knives at a spinning board while a very unlucky woman stands strapped to it—you actually score more points if you miss a few times before hitting. Then there’s a shooting gallery where outlaws pop up from behind rocks, and later, they start chucking bottles at you from the distance. It’s harder than it sounds.
My favorite (or maybe least favorite?) is the bronco riding—you’re basically wrestling with the joystick to keep two balance bars steady while the horse does everything it can to throw you off. And just when you think it’s over, there’s a stagecoach brawl where you jump on and start punching hijackers. The whole thing’s got this goofy, exaggerated vibe that makes it fun to mess around with, even if you’re terrible at half the games.
It’s not deep, but it’s the kind of thing you’d fire up with a friend to see who could survive the longest without faceplanting.
