Play Burning Force (Japan) Online
Race through isometric stages on your hoverbike, shoot down enemies, dodge obstacles, and defeat bosses in this fast-paced 1990 Sega Genesis shooter.
Burning Force came out for the Sega Genesis in 1990, developed by Namco. It was part of that early wave of games trying to push 3D-like visuals on the system, using scaling and rotation tricks to create a sense of depth that felt fresh at the time, even if the hardware was clearly working hard to keep up.
You control a futuristic hoverbike, flying through a series of isometric stages, shooting down enemy craft and dodging obstacles. The main goal is simply to survive each stage and defeat the boss waiting at the end. Two mechanics stand out: the ability to switch between a close-range, wide shot and a more focused long-range laser, and the way the game shifts between an overhead free-movement mode and fast, forward-scrolling tunnel sections. It moves at a brisk pace, and the difficulty ramps up quickly, especially in later stages where enemy patterns become less forgiving. Playing it feels like a race against both the clock and your own reflexes.
