Captain Tsubasa Vol. II: Super Striker is that weird, kinda janky NES soccer RPG where your players level up like they’re in a JRPG instead of just running drills. You’ve got special moves with dramatic names, stats to grind, and matches that feel more like turn-based battles than actual soccer—but somehow, it works. The first time your striker pulls off a "Tiger Shot" and the screen explodes in flashing colors, you’ll either laugh or cheer. Probably both.
It’s definitely a product of its time—menus are clunky, and the translation’s rough—but there’s charm in how seriously it takes its anime soccer melodrama. Just don’t expect FIFA.
