Play Card e-Reader Online
Slide Pokémon cards through your GBA to unlock mini-games—Pikachu dodges explosions, Jirachi pops into your Ruby save, and yeah, you’ll mess up the swipes half the time. Pure 2000s jank magic.

Remember those old Pokémon cards collecting dust in your closet? Card e-Reader turns them into something wild—if you've got the special e-Reader cards, anyway. Slide one through your Game Boy Advance, and boom: suddenly you're playing a mini-game where Pikachu's dodging Voltorb explosions or unlocking a Jirachi for your Ruby & Sapphire save file. It feels like cheating reality a little.
The whole thing's clunky in that perfect early-2000s way—you've gotta swipe the card just right, and half the fun is the weird little failures when it doesn't read. I spent way too much time tracking down the Battle e-Cards just to watch my scanned Blaziken throw pixelated fireballs. Japan got way more cards than we did, which is tragic, but even the western releases turn your GBA into this weird hybrid of trading cards and video games. It shouldn't work as well as it does.
Honestly? It's the kind of oddball hardware experiment Nintendo would never make today. That alone makes it worth digging up.
