Ever played Bubble Bobble? Chack'n Pop is like its weird, slightly janky grandparent. You control this little yellow blob named Chack'n who's trying to rescue stolen hearts after his romantic moment got ruined. The enemies hatch from eggs dangling from the ceiling – blue ones are safe, yellow means they'll hatch soon, and red? Run. Those pop instantly.
You've got bombs to clear out the monsters and free the hearts, which then float up to break the ceiling and open the exit. The whole thing's on a timer too – these big guys called Mightas push a boulder that slowly crushes you if you take too long. The NES version's got 14 levels, though the Famicom one weirdly cuts it down to 9. It's simple, kinda clunky, but there's something charming about the whole thing.
