Play Championship Golf Online
1992 Amiga golf game with 18-hole courses, dynamic weather, and multiplayer hot-seat mode. Uses joystick or keyboard for swing timing and power control.
Championship Golf came out for the Amiga in 1992, developed by Arc Developments and published by Virgin Games. It was one of several golf titles on the platform at the time, offering a straightforward simulation without the flash of some later releases. The game presented a clean, functional interface and a focus on the basics of the sport, fitting right in with the expectations of early 90s sports gaming.
You control a golfer from an overhead perspective, moving from hole to hole across several 18-hole courses. The main objective is simple: complete each course in as few strokes as possible. The swing mechanic relies on a two-step process: setting power with a moving meter, then timing the click to determine accuracy. Wind speed and direction play a significant role in shot planning, and you can also adjust the loft of your club to compensate. The pacing is deliberate, almost methodical, and the difficulty comes from reading the course conditions as much as executing the swing. It feels satisfying to land a clean shot under pressure, especially when the wind is against you.
